About TKD Sparring

TKD Sparring is a 90-minute class for yellow belts and above at The RAZ in Rockland. Students learn Olympic-style sparring: footwork, distance, timing and scoring kicks, with full protective gear and controlled contact.

Sparring runs twice a week, Monday and Thursday evenings. It is the class that prepares students for gradings, tournaments and real confidence.

Your first class is free

Try a class before you commit. Tell us the student’s age and any martial arts experience and Rick will reply with the best class to start in. Membership is arranged after your free class.

Questions parents ask

What belt do I need for Sparring?

Yellow belt and above.

What gear is required?

Head guard, chest protector, shin and forearm guards, mouth guard and gloves. Rick will advise where to get gear.

Is sparring full contact?

It is controlled contact with full gear, taught progressively. Beginners start with drills and light contact.

Do I have to compete?

No. Competing is optional; many students spar for fitness and confidence.
